Summer Sweets

I’ve got two delicious summer desserts both take just a few ingredients.  The Green Kitchen Stories Strawberry Rhubarb Ripple FroYo is amazing it’s a little sweet, a little tart and very refreshing. The ingredients are strawberries, rhubarb, honey vanilla and Greek yogurt, simple. When this was cooking the fragrance of the strawberries, rhubarb, vanilla and…

Hello to a week of finishing up the studio and to easy meals. Baked potato or baked sweet potato I’m totally down with either for a meal. They can be filled with all kinds of wonderful things, being quick to make is all that much better. As the weather gets warmer anything fast for a…

Hello Turkey Wild Rice Soup

turkey soup

After being in Chicago I was reminded of this soup a Midwest favorite especially in areas where the cold hangs on a little longer.  I went with the quickest version I could  make. These may not be the best food photos I’ve ever taken, yikes.  Every time I start cooking I mean to drag out…

Detox Salad

Maybe you’ve been juicing everything and you’d now like something to chew, hehe.  This salad was something I learned to make from California before we lived here way back in 2001, yikes that was awhile ago! blanched carrots

I love vegetables more than other food. Sometimes it’s the preparation of the vegetables over the ingredients that makes an amazing dish. This carrot salad might have you thinking of the old fashion carrot and raisin salad but it really has a completely different flavor profile, a little more savory. The bean soup I think…

BBQ Calzones

sliced calzone

A calzone is one of the easiest/quickest things to make for dinner I’m sure you make these already but maybe not with this filling. I feel funny calling it a calzone because it’s certainly not Italian ha, does it have to be? Let’s just call it a good hot sandwich. Oh no I’m wrong it…

Corn Meal Pancakes

corn meal cakes 2

These pancakes are hearty, filling, dense, tender and full of flavor. I like a berry syrup especially blueberry. It balances this pancake’s flavor well. This recipe is unique because you soften the corn meal first. This is a twist I really like-it makes a better, more tender crumb. 1 cup of boiling water, 3/4 cup…
