Door sign is done! Old frame chalk sticky paper super easy. I think we have our menu down. A little more to do and we will be ready for the fun! It’s great day isn’t it? We get the day going with some bloody mary’s and a light breakfast then everyone has a job:
I make the corn bread dressing, pies (pumpkin and a walnut pie this year) and a side or two. My husband makes the turkey, mashed buttermilk potatoes & gravy. My daughter makes the cranberry sauce usually with something yummy like vanilla bean & orange. My sister makes the corn pudding. My nephew makes something maybe sweet potatoes this year. My brother in law fills in where we need help.
We’ve got a few traditions of places to hit. Laguna Sawdust Festival is one. We pack a lot into a few days and have a lot of fun. I hope you have great celebrations where ever you go over your holiday weekend!
If your stuck for a side dish this corn pudding will make you famous ;)
4-eggs
4-tablespoons sugar
6-tablespoons of cornstarch
1/2 cup-milk
2-16 oz. cans of creamed corn
Blend together the sugar and cornstarch.
Add eggs & milk. Next add corn and mix.
Pour into a buttered casserole dish & dot with butter. Bake @ 350 until it sets.( test with a knife or cake tester)
