Something Worth Trying

boule

I got this book  Artisan Bread in Five Minutes a Day for Christmas that I saw here, so far it’s amazing. I’ve only done the boule dough and it is delicious. When it came out of the oven and the crust started cracking and popping I was so impressed with myself. It makes a crispy crust with a custardy crumb, oh my! It may be too good to share.

So what it is, is a super simple way to make artisan bread. The bread I made has 4 ingredients flour, yeast, salt and water you mix it it rises on the counter (pretty normal right?) but then it goes into the frig were it can stay for days until you are want some bread. Then you take as much or as little of the dough as you need. It’s not a sourdough starter that needs to be fed. It doesn’t need to be punched down or messed with, its a pretty perfect recipe. I made bread machine bread for years and I had it down pretty well but this is hands down superior.

Lots of other good bread recipes in this book. I even use the boule recipe for a pizza crust and it was yummy. I just drizzled it with olive oil when I shaped it and it worked without doing a special batch of pizza crust.

One more tasty idea if you’re looking for something to make. I did this Barefoot Contessa recipe fruit salad with Limonocello, yogurt & lemon curd sauce. Extra good. Of course, it’s just fruit salad with a topping but this has really good flavor and balance. Plus it will make you feel like spring is just around the corner.
