Plant Party!

The Nester is having a plant party. Need some container inspiration? Head over. I am sure you’re going to see something wonderful that is going to get you in the car headed for the nursery sometime soon…

My challenge this weekend was the saddest planted container outside in the front of our house, keep scrolling you’ll see it. It’s funny how very close to the bad container is this good container. It is an odd mix of plants- purple Oxalis, agapanthus and lobelia. This is my neglected pot and it’s always happy, hmmm…

My challenge pot is just plain bad. Look even the camera is out of focus for the shame of having to capture a picture ;)

Oh I’ve planted and replanted this brat. You name it, I’ve planted it. I love the planter, a Mother’s day gift from many years ago. I’d be so happy if I can find something that works. The lobelia is pretty happy and just chugs along so I am encouraged to give this planter another try, I’m thinking shallow roots.

I pulled out the small kangaroo paw that was there and I’m giving succulents a try. I did two succulents, plus something spiky (that may have to come out if it gets unruly).

Nothing fancy. I put some beach rocks around bare spots to help with exposed soil and I tucked in some moss. The moss will probably not make it but it will help keep for now. Have you ever used the Miracle Grow potting soil with the little granules that plump up and keep the soil from drying out? I have had good luck with it here in California it seems to help. I’m happy with the finished pot, let’s see how this looks in a month…
